Japan based its 1880 Penal Code anti-vagrancy statutes on French models, and introduced "koseki" register to track poor/vagrant domestic citizens as Tokyo's Governor Matsuda segregates classes, and the nation introduces "modern police forces". In 1882, the United States passes the Chinese Exclusion Act. In 1884, the Ottoman government enacts major "Passport Nizamnamesi" legislation requiring passports. In 1885, the racist expulsion of the "Tacoma riot".

Punished for being Algerian in France. Punished for being Chinese in San Francisco. Punished for being Korean in Japan. Punished for crossing Ottoman borders without correct paperwork. Arrested for whatever, then sent to do convict labor. A poor person in the Punjab, starving during a catastrophic famine, might be coerced into a work contract by British authorities. They will have to travel, shipped off to build a railroad. But now they have to work. Now they are bound. They will be punished for being Punjabi and trying to walk away from Britain's tea plantations in Assam or Britain's rubber plantations in Malaya.

Real freedom would be one that guarantees security for every Kashmiri, not just the majority faith. Touting “free Kashmir” without that nuance only signals alignment with forces that intimidated Pandits in 1990—and still do.

Hope you are doing well. I am actually a student of class 12 in India and as I've taken science, there is a countless pressure on me which I actually put on myself.

But regardless of that I never can bring myself to study no matter how many productive videos swatch or study motivation that I watch.it feels like a hopeless loop of me toying to get myself to study and then failing to do that anyway. I actually think you should intentionally take the pressure off of yourself. It’s like the conversation around being busy but not productive. Sometimes we’re so overwhelmed by what we think we should be doing that our brain just shuts down completely. You putting all that pressure on yourself every single day doesn’t make it easier, it just makes it harder to move at all

Shrink the goal. Don’t try to study for hours. Do something before that puts you in a good mood and help clears your mind. Then sit with a book for 5–10 minutes. That’s it. Sometimes the trick is just to begin

Knowing our NLP style whether we're more visual, auditory, or kinesthetic can totally change how we learn and process information. For example, if you're a visual learner, your brain thrives on images, diagrams and color coded notes. You might love vision boards or mind maps. If you're auditory, podcasts, lectures, or even talking out loud to yourself helps information click. And if you're kinesthetic, your body needs to move learning by doing, walking while reviewing notes, or even using physical flashcards can boost focus. Make sense?

The problem is that so many of us are forcing ourselves to work in a way that doesn’t match how our brain is wired which also leads to burnout, procrastination etc. The way you naturally process the world is the way you should study and live. Lean into it

The term 'Sub-Saharan' Africa is a colonial language that was used to belittle African nations south of the Sahara and to separate the other countries from North Africa– Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Sudan due to them being Arab states.

Every one of these terms come from the mindset of Europeans not Africans. Indigenous African societies do not use the term black as a racial identity outside of influences brought by Western cultures.

Contemporary anthropologists and other scientists, while recognizing the reality of biological variation between different human populations, regard the concept of a unified, distinguishable "Black race" as socially constructed.

Black is a term developed in the Colonial Assembly of Maryland, after a rebellion called Bacon's Rebellion, fought from 1676 to 1677.

The alliance between European indentured servants and Africans (a mix of indentured, enslaved, and Free Negroes) disturbed the colonial upper class. They responded by hardening the racial caste of slavery in an attempt to divide the two races from subsequent united uprisings with the passage of the Virginia Slave Codes of 1705.

White took on the meaning "British, Christian and having rights. Black meaning not having rights.

These divided the two populations, by giving poor Europeans with no power, unprecedented power over all non-Europeans.

The laws were devised to establish a greater level of control over the rising African slave population of Virginia. It also socially segregated white colonists from black enslaved persons, making them disparate groups and hindering their ability to unite. Unity of the commoners was a perceived fear of the Virginia aristocracy, who wished to prevent repeated events such as Bacon's Rebellion, occurring 29 years prior.

By refusing to call you an African, it belittles you, no such thing as black names, black land or black languages. It is like calling a woman big lips or flat butt and refusing to call the woman by her actual name. "Hey colored girl, or black boy".

African populations have the highest levels of genetic variation among all humans.

I love love love that Harry has not only been supporting this queer brand and from the very first collection but now also has stakes in it. So cool. And makes total sense ♥️

India and I were just talking this morning about how much SS Daley’s style fits Harry’s aesthetic. More so than even Loewe—which is classic and beautiful, but doesn’t have that quirkiness that I, at least, associate with Harry.

I also love what Stokey-Daley says about the inspiration behind his brand:
